Chevy Volt Trumps Nissan Leaf in December Sales
So, the December sales for electric vehicles is out in the open. Chevy sold 326 units of Volt while Nissan Leaf managed to deliver 19 vehicles. For those who may be harping against the Leaf, the underlying reason for this difference is on account of the fact that Chevy manufactures Volts in its Detroit facility while the Nissan Leaf is manufactured across the globe in Japan and Nissan is importing finished product only.
Both manufacturers have confirmed that their first year of production is on target and Chevy is set to deliver 25,000 Volts in the year while Nissan Leaf is in line with its target of 25,000 global sales. This includes the Nissan Leaf figures for the US and Japan.
So, besides the initial euphoria there is not much to say at this point of time as to who will win the battle for electric car supremacy.
